Biography

Zhu Kexin (朱可心, 1904-1986) was a renowned master of Yixing pottery during the modern era, recognized as one of the most influential artisans of the 20th century. Born in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, he began his apprenticeship in pottery making at a young age and developed exceptional skills in both traditional and innovative teapot designs. Throughout his career, he became particularly famous for his naturalistic designs that incorporated elements from nature, especially flowers, fruits, and plants, executed with remarkable realism and artistic refinement.

Zhu Kexin's contributions to Yixing pottery extended beyond his own creations. He played a crucial role in preserving and transmitting traditional techniques during a tumultuous period in Chinese history, and he trained numerous students who would become important artisans in their own right.
