An early work by Gu Jingzhou, named for the convex rounded line on the upper shoulder area. The overall body resembles a sphere, with the lower belly tapering slightly toward the base, avoiding a bloated and weak appearance in the form, creating a more upright visual effect. The flush lid features a round bridge knob subtly integrated into the lid surface, echoing the rounded and charming form of the pot body. The plump double-curved spout exhibits the simple and unadorned styling characteristics of Republican-era Yixing pottery. The upright ear-shaped handle extends gracefully, corresponding with the spout. The "Shang Bian Xian Yuan" teapot presents an overall form that is rounded and proper, with regularity throughout. The round, full, and drum-like body provides decorative space for carved embellishment. Yixing purple clay carving artist Jiang Yongxi incised the lines "Bright moon shines through the pines, clear spring flows over stones" along with floral and bird motifs. The simple and rustic beauty of appreciating the moon while sipping tea and composing poetry suddenly springs to life before one's eyes.
