The "Xingzhong Set" was designed by Professor Yu Yaozhong of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts and crafted by Gu Jingzhou. It presents a simple form that is wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, with a straight spout and a slightly trimmed mouth opening—perfectly proportioned. The ear-shaped handle and boat-cover style lid echo the form of the pot body. The pot body features a bell-shaped knob. The interior of the pot body and cup walls, as well as the surface of the saucer, are all glazed with white glaze. The glaze surface is lustrous and润, with a slight yellowish tint. The decorative method of applying glaze to Yixing pottery first appeared during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and became very popular by the late Qing and Republican periods. It was generally used for dining utensils and scholar's desk items.
