The "Han Yun Hu" (Han Cloud Teapot) stands as one of Gu Jingzhou's representative works in the光器 (guang qi, plain ware) style. Without any surface decoration, it embodies the aesthetic beauty of Yixing pottery through the rhythm of lines and the interplay of surfaces and contours. The curves flow gracefully, the variations are measured and appropriate, and every detail exhibits strength and vigor. The body of the teapot is dominated by circular lines, with a constricted neck, angled shoulders, and a rounded belly. The raised line at the shoulder extends to connect with the spout and handle, creating a smooth flow of energy and an extraordinary bearing. The foot ring flares outward. The triple-curved spout extends generously and pours smoothly. When the lid is closed, the lid surface and rim fit together seamlessly without the slightest gap. The upper edge of the flying handle curves outward to form a rounded ridge, which both echoes the rhythm of the vessel body and provides comfortable grip.
