The "Cloud-Pattern Bat Ashtray" was a sample piece created in the late 1970s by the Yixing Purple Clay Factory for the China Import and Export Fair in Guangzhou. It features a square shape with a curved bottom, resembling a flat boat. Both ends are designed in the form of rolling clouds, giving the overall form a novel and distinctive appearance. The front and back are decorated with abstract cloud-and-bat patterns, while the base has four feet adorned with ruyi motifs, symbolizing auspicious wishes and boundless blessings. On one side of the base is a rectangular seal reading "Jingzhou." The body is made of purple clay, with a surface coating of red clay. The color is lustrous and smooth. By decorating clay with clay, it fully embodies the simple and honest essence of purple clay ware.
