English Translation

Gu Jingzhou began using signature inscriptions in his early works. For example, the "Small Green Clay Stone Ladle Teapot" from 1935 bears an inscription on the bottom reading "Treasured collection of Wei Zijing of Longxi." In the late 1930s, a "Short Monk's Hat Teapot" made in Shanghai was signed on the bottom with "Shenglian Residence, Dashao." The bottom signature on the 1935 Green Clay Small Stone Ladle Teapot and the bottom signature on the Short Monk's Hat Teapot from the late 1950s demonstrate this practice.
