## 1915 On October 18 (the tenth day of the ninth lunar month in the year of Yimao), Gu Jingzhou was born in Shangwan Village, Chuanbei Township, Yixing. His original name was Jinzhou. His grandmother was Shao, his father Gu Bingrong, and his mother Wei. Gu Jingzhou had seven siblings. His older brother and four younger siblings died of illness one after another. Gu Jingzhou, who was second in birth order, became the eldest son in the family. He also had brothers Gu Luzhou and Gu Xizhou. ## 1920 Changed his name to Jingzhou and enrolled in Yixing County Sixth Higher Primary School (formerly the Dongpo Higher Primary School from the late Qing Dynasty). ## 1928 Gu Jingzhou graduated from primary school and subsequently continued his studies at a private school for three years. ## 1932 Due to the family's declining financial circumstances, Gu Jingzhou left school and began learning Zisha pottery making under his grandmother Shao. He began using the seals "Gu Shi," "Jing Ji," and "Jingzhou." He also used studio name seals such as "Moyuan Qingyi Tang Zhi" and "Ziyi Xuan." ## 1934 Gu Jingzhou's father invited the renowned craftsman Chu Ming to their home as a guest master to teach Gu Jingzhou the art of Zisha pottery. ## 1935 Created the "Chuanlu Hu" teapot (with the inscription "Gong Cun Yuezhi" carved on the body). Began using the seal "Shou Ping."
