When shaping the spout opening, hold it in your palm and shake it gently. Once the spout opening is properly shaped, the clay slip can be immediately applied. (Figures 4-3, 4-4) --- Tall-shaped teapots require more clay, so the spout should not be too thin. For fan-shaped teapots and teapots with large surface areas, since the body doesn't require as much clay, it's appropriate to make the spout head slightly thicker and the spout tip somewhat thinner. For example, the "Gaobi Plum Blossom" style requires more clay, while the "Xian Yuan" (Thread Circle), "Qian He" (Lead Box), and "Lian Zi" (Lotus Seed) styles do not require as much.
