He had thought this would allow him to change careers and choose a new profession, but during the physical examination, tuberculosis was discovered in his lungs, preventing him from realizing his wish. He was forced to return home to recuperate. At this time, dialogue and exchange with zisha pottery once again became his only outlet for expressing his emotions. His heart full of suffering and melancholy could only be gradually relieved and dissolved through the beating of clay slabs. In all of this, Gu Jingzhou seemed to have been born for zisha and existed for zisha. From then on, zisha accompanied him throughout his life, the two mutually dependent, never to be separated. In February 1952, under the organization and support of the People's Government, Yixing established the first socialist economic organization in the ceramics industry—the "Tangdu Pottery Production Cooperative."
