In the 1940s, Gu Jingzhou created the "Green Clay Imitation Drum Ruyi Teapot," bearing the seal "Qiao" or "Sufficient for My Enjoyment in Old Age." The body of this teapot closely resembled the "Zuo You Lan Yan Imitation Drum Teapot," particularly in the spout, which was shaped like an inverted thumb and carried strong stylistic characteristics of the Republican era. In the 1970s, Gu Jingzhou made several more "Green Clay Imitation Drum Ruyi Teapots." The overall form differed somewhat from those of the 1940s—the spout was more relaxed and extended, appearing more refined and elegant. One of these teapots bore the engraved inscription "Only morning dew nourishes a hundred flowers well; it is the spring breeze that can give life to all things," and was formerly in the collection of Lu Yin, the former Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Light Industry Department. In 1989, Gu Jingzhou created the "Imitation Drum Ruyi Teapot" for the final time. This version featured new modifications to the body compared to the previous two iterations—the teapot's bearing was more outwardly expansive, appearing more upright and magnificent, reflecting the extension of Gu Jingzhou's technical mastery and the evolution of his aesthetic sensibilities.
